Training, recruitment and coaching for SGN

SGN embarked on a programme to deliver new mobile technology to its field engineers together with a major upgrade of hardware and core software applications for office staff and management.

 

DNASTREAM was also engaged to provide change management and training support and delivery within the first phase together with driving the establishment of a new internal IT systems training team.

What we did

This UK utility company embarked on a programme to deliver new mobile technology to its field engineers together with a major upgrade of hardware and core software applications for its office-based staff and management.

 

DNASTREAM was appointed due to its proven track record of managing large change programmes involving field-based staff. The customer required national support across its workforce to ensure effective deployment and readiness for 5,000 users – but with the added strategic vision to enable SGN to be self-sufficient in IT systems training in the longer term.

 

DNASTREAM supported selection of the team, performed inductions of the new team members, provided mentoring and coaching for a period of time and successfully handed over to the newly established internal team the remainder of the programme. 

Outcomes

Smartphones were deployed and trained out to 3,000 users within nine weeks, Tablets were deployed and trained out to 3,000 users within 13 weeks. On top of this upgrades to laptops and desktops were deployed and trained out to 2,000 users within nine weeks, concurrently with the tablet deployment.

 

DNASTREAM managed the successful adoption of new applications and technology by all user populations

with very low levels of post-deployment training required, indicating high levels of user adoption/

 

We managed to establish a fully competent internal IT systems training team reducing or removing external consulting costs due to this increased internal competency. With a significant improvement to internal knowledge and expertise, there was a continued drive to self- sufficiency.
